GEO Pro Extension

Privacy policy

GEO Pro Extension is free and has no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking. Almost everything runs inside your browser. This page lists every piece of data the extension touches and where it goes.

What stays on your device

  • Page analysis. When you click the extension icon, it reads the current tab (HTML, rendered text, meta tags, structured data) and fetches that site's own robots.txt, llms.txt and the page's raw HTML directly from the site. The results are shown in the popup and are not sent to us.
  • ChatGPT fan-out (chatgpt.com only). On chatgpt.com the extension reads the open conversation from your own ChatGPT session to show the web searches ChatGPT ran. A small script also records those search queries while an answer streams and keeps them in chatgpt.com's local storage (up to the last 200 answers). This data never leaves your device and is never sent to our server.
  • Settings. Theme and language are stored in the extension's local storage.
  • Install ID. A random ID is created on install and stored locally. It is not linked to you; it is only sent with the product score request below, for rate limiting.

What is sent to our server

Only when you press the product score button on the Product tab, the extension sends to https://umutcandan.com/geo-pro/api:

  • the page URL without its query string,
  • the product description text it found on the page (the first ~50 tokens and the sentences after them), and the product name, category and page language when present,
  • the install ID and extension version (request headers).

Our server forwards the description text (not the URL) to TypeSafe's Jev API (typesafe.ai) to score it, and returns the score to the popup.

  • The score result is cached for 7 days under a hash of the text, so the same text is not scored twice. The URL is not part of the cache.
  • Rate-limit counters keyed by install ID and IP address expire automatically (within a day).
  • Server logs record errors and request counts, not page text or URLs.
  • Nothing is sold, shared for advertising, or used to build profiles.

Pages the extension opens

On install, on feature updates and on uninstall, the extension opens a page on umutcandan.com (welcome, what's new, uninstall feedback). These links carry the extension version, UI language and UTM tags so we can see which page was opened from the extension. The uninstall form has an optional email field; if you fill it in, the address is sent to me by email only so I can reply to you, and it is not stored anywhere else.

Permissions

  • activeTab, scripting: read the tab you are analyzing, only when you open the popup.
  • storage: keep the install ID locally.
  • Host access to chatgpt.com / chat.openai.com: the fan-out capture described above.
